Tell your mom how special she is in a big way, with an oversized vintage tea or coffee cup that says “Mother” and a matching saucer! The cup is 3 ¾” high and around at the top, and holds 1 ½ cups. The saucer is 6 ¾” around.

I’m not sure exactly how old this set is but it’s very similar to other pieces I’ve seen that were made in Japan in the 1950s and had “Made in Japan” stickers that would later have fallen off.

There are 2 things that makes a set with this motif special—one is that the cup is very large and the other is that there is a cup as well as saucer. I’ve only ever seen a regular size cup, with no matching saucer, with the same motif.

These are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. There’s a little bit of crazing at the bottom of the cup, which is normal for a piece this old.
