This is a simple and elegant little cocktail dress from the 1960s era. Sleeveless dress is black with an intricate textured design. The dress has a mesh overlay that is sewn with coiled tulle just swirling back and forth over the entire dress. Not really flowers, but it gives a sort of macabre floral appearance, with the texture.
I love this dress as a basic go-to for events. If you don't "live that life" but still want some vintage pieces for the company holiday party - or maybe you just prefer understated statements - this is wonderful. The silhouette is beautiful for more modest preferences as well, with its longer length and higher neckline. The back of the neck is lower than the front, but still very appropriate. So pretty!
This was part of a large collection that was owned by a woman with very expensive tastes - but sadly, many of the pieces were not stored well. I hand washed this because it was filthy when I got it, it had decades of "attic" on it. It washed up nicely, though, and is ready to go! I do recommend dry cleaning going forward though.
This has no tags in it. The inside is lined with a sort of "sheath" dress, which is much slimmer than the outer layer, especially in the skirt. You could easily remove the sheath or even just have it altered if it is too slim.
