90s Mens Formal Morning Coat Tux

DETAILS: This is a formal day dress men's coat in a rare extra large size. Specifically, it is a "morning coat", and would typically be worn for formal events that took place before 6pm. This is single breasted and has the classic peak lapels, and sloping front panels, finishing with tail in back. The morning coat would usually be worn with plain black or gray pants, a light color shirt with turn-down collar, and a waistcoat. A coordinating necktie or ascot would be the usual finishing touch. However, you may accessorize in whatever way you prefer, and the coat could be used for a steampunk look as well.

SIZE: Labeled 50 L. Measurements were challenging due to the style elements

Measurements

Chest - 53" (134. 5 cm)

Shoulders - 22. 5" (57 cm)

Length from shoulder seam to jacket bottom at place where "tail" attaches to body creating a vee angle- 23" (58. 5 cm)

Sleeve length - 27" (68. 5 cm)

FABRIC/COLORS: I do not find a fiber content tag - think it is most likely wool. There is a pinstripe weave in black and dark charcoal. Collar is a matte black satin.

TAGS: Pierre Cardin signature, made in U. S.A. The inner right breast pocket has a tag for Selix Formalwear, a San Francisco Bay area company that closed down in 2015 after nearly 100 years in business.

The coat has the ACTWU label (Amalgamated Clothing & Textiles Workers Union) which was used from 1976 until 1995 when ACTWU merged with another union to become UNITE.

CLOSURES: N/A - there is a small fabric covered button on the right front that is decorative and not functional.

CONDITION: No stains, holes, tears or other issues noted.
