70's Blue Tartan Plaid Novelty Print Umbrella Vintage Purse

I lovelovelove this reversible vintage purse. Look at the umbrellas! So cheery and bright and there are polka dots (another fave of mine) but then on the other side is the distinguished respectable classic plaid.

I think this purse is like all of us...part playful, part distinguished. Part whimsical and childlike, part adult. Be one during the day when you're at work and then switch it around and be the other that afternoon when you go out with friends.

This is a homemade purse (purse kits were big in the 70's) and the childlike side is a little...er...childlike in it's sewing. Ha! But you know what? Who cares? Goodness, as adults everything has to be tidy and perfect and colored between the lines and kids are more, "Sewing that was so fun! I love the umbrellas! The lady at the fabric store was nice. Can we get ice cream now?" Which sounds a lot more fun to me than, "Oh, dear, this isn't straight. I need to redo it. It has to be perfect b/c people will judge me if it's not. The woman next to me sewed hers beautifully. Ugh. Why can't I do this?!"

So, yeah. If you're good with umbrellas prints and imperfections and you've got an inner child who needs to express herself, then this is the purse for you. Wear it when it's raining, wear it when it's not. Either way, I guarantee you'll smile every time you look at it and you might even show off the zig zags to a friend and laugh.

Purse has an extra button sewn on the inside and looks brand new.
