70's/80's Sheer Lace Jacket

This Lace Jacket is an incredible work made by Holly Lueders for Shu-ba in the early 1980s. Lueders is a traditional artist who started designing fashion in the 1970s, drawing inspiration from her time spent living in Greece, and her collection of antique Greek traditional clothing. The jacket is carefully crafted from Alençon, a fine needlepoint lace native to Alençon, France. It is defined by raised cording, which creates depth in the intricate floral pattern. It's the only French lace not done upon a pillow, with all the work done entirely by hand. The top has a layer of mesh underneath the lace, making it slightly less sheer, and wearable without layering underneath. As is common with Alencon lace, this jacket features eyelashes on the edges. This piece could be worn layered over a dress, or worn as a top with just a bra underneath. It features shoulder pads (which could also be removed), and a single hook and eye closure at the waist.
