50s Traditional Trachten Cape With Pointy Hood

Traditional Bavarian Cape Coat in Dark Green Wool. One size. By Karl Kettl.

According to "Resident Kraut" on Reddit, (where I posted the cape on the subreddit: Military Collecting):

"Karl Kettl Was a tailor for traditional "Trachten" Clothes. His shop was on the Rosenstrabe in Tegernsee, Bavaria, Germany. It is
a civilian Cloak and likely much younger than WW1 or WW2. I'd say mid- 50s. Here is a postcard from 1958 that shows his shop. It is the one in the middle, with the woman looking in the window."

I did follow the link and see the shop front.

I have had this piece dry cleaned and it is in great condition.

FEATURES:

Pointy hood that is detachable- it buttons into place.
Interesting collar tab closure at front of neck.
Dark green cloak has contrasting bright green collar as seen in photo.
There is a hook also found so it may have one time had some sort of trim.
Textured wool.

Carved Horn buttons. Just at front top and also buttons on side for closure.

Two maker's label, including the one shown and a second in script indicating Tegernsee as location. Photos available.

MEASUREMENTS:

My mannequin is a small so that may help gage fit and this is a bit large on her. I think its generally a "one size" garment but please consider measurements below:

Shoulders- I am following the reinforcement on wrong side to measure: 24 inches with garment lying flat. I dont think this is necessarily all shoulder- but this is where reinforcement is sewn to structure shoulder and top arm.

Neck at top button is 17 inches.

Measuring from "sleeve" hem, with garment lying flat it measures 27 inches on each side of collar.

From tip of sleeves, with cape lying open flat, measuring left to right, it is 53 inches.

Length- Measuring back from bottom of hood/top of collar to bottom hem: 40 inches.

CONDITION:

Well made garment in great condition. Very minor surface wear. This item has been dry cleaned. Buttons intact. No stains found or tears. Hems intact.
