30’s Brooch Pin Unsigned Miriam Haskell Crystal Beads

Size: 2" wide and longest section of beads measures 4" from top to bottom. Metal plate in back measures 1" by .5"

Label: very likely an unsigned Miriam Haskell piece by Frank Hess, circa 1930s

This lovely 1930s beaded brooch is most likely an unsigned Miriam Haskell pin by designer Frank Hess. The cascading strands of faceted clear glass beads, plus tiny red, blue and green glass beads, dangle from a rectangular, pierced brass metal back plate. The beads attach to the rectangular plate via both smooth and grooved links, which are wired to the back plate (see photo showing back of brooch). The layers of beaded dangles create wonderful texture and movement to this circa 1930s brooch or pin. For comparison to the back of other unsigned Haskell brooches form this era, please see the photo we have included, located on page 74 of the excellent book Miriam Haskell Jewelry, by Cathy Gordon and Sheila Pamfiloff. This lovely and dramatic brooch is in very good condition, with some verdigris present on a few of the uppermost links that attach the beaded dangles to the backing plate (see close-up photo of back).
