20s Glitzy Black Sequined Beaded Lace Gown Dramatic

This is a stunning late 20s early 30s black sequined and beaded gown. The gown has an overdress of netting that the sequins and beads are attached to and hangs loose falling to mid-calf and has a rounded hem with slight slits up the side. It is V-ed in the front and back (I believe I have it displayed backward, but it could go either way easily.) The only difference is one V is slightly less deep and there is a bit of a border to one of the V’s. There are also beige silk modesty panels in the V’s that are covered with a pleated net. The dress has lace sequined dolman style sleeves that fall to mid-wrist in a point. Attached are chantilly-styled lace with fringe all along the opening. At this point, there are beaded baubles that are so fun and whimsical. There is an attached black silk underslip that is loose-fitting and has a lovely chantilly lace hem with chiffon under the lace.

Condition:
The dress is in good condition overall with a few things to note. The netting is inherently fragile but there are no holes in the body of the dress and only a few missing beads and sequins. The modesty panels look to be added they look to have been altered and added hastily to the dress. The silk on the modesty panels is shredding, it is the only shredding and could be removed without being very risque. The tag for the dress has been added to the modesty panels, Margaret Newton, Little Rock. The sleeves do have a few small holes at the top of the shoulders but are in overall good condition. There is also some slight discoloration on the left hem of one sleeve. The sleeves are attached to the silk slip interestingly and may have been added at a later date. The silk slip and lace hem are in great shape. The body of the dress is sequined. These are not gelatin sequins but the sleeves might be and you should avoid steaming them. The dress does not have an odor and I would only recommend light wear or display. It is a stunning piece and is ready for a new home.
