50's Snake Cuff Links$25.00- Father's Day Gift Guide
These gold plated and enamel cuff links are a standard size measuring 5/8 inch. The black and green enameling is in good condition. The snake is black and slithering around a pole, reminiscent of the medical caduceus, which usually has two snakes. The back ground of the nautilus shells are green. The swivel closure still works well.
These cuff links are circa 1950 and made by a high end costume jewelry maker of the time. The manufacture and quality of costume jewelry deteriorated in the latter part of the century making this era the last with enduring products.
This style of accessory was usually worn at fancy cocktail parties, which were very popular at the time. Sometimes, these over the top pieces were known as, " cocktail" jewelry.
